IU Finishes Spring Trip 2-6

Overall, it would be an understatement if I said that this Spring Trip was a disappointment. To finish 2-6 against mostly inferior competition was a huge letdown for a team with the talent level of IU. I don't think anyone on the team or a follower of the team thought we would be either 8-13 or 7-14 beginning conference play (depending on the outcome of the Xavier game). Regardless, let's hope the boys put it all together and get on a winning streak because we know they have the talent to do so.

Let's take a look at some of the individual stats that saw significant change from the spring trip:
Jake Dunning - SS had 12 hits (2 doubles, 2 triples) in 7 starts to increase his BA from .222 to .317; 2 relief appearances to increase opponents BA to .346
Jerrud Sabourin - 5 hits in 8 games to lower his BA from .538 to .398
T.C. Knipp - 5 starts to increase his BA from .250 to .325
Vince Gonzalez - 4 starts and his first 7 collegiate hits to increase his BA to .333
Brian Lambert - 5 starts and his first 7 hits of the year
Dylan Swift - 2 starts, first 3 hits of the year, and 3 walks to increase OB% to .500
Eric Arnett - 2 wins to keep his ERA under 3 (2.57)
Matt Carr - 3 solid relief appearances to move his ERA from 5.59 to 4.40
Wyatt Hoff - 13 earned runs in 3 relief appearances (1.1 innings)

Team Stats:
BA: .336 to .338
OB%: .418 to .412
ERA: 5.18 to 6.48
14 errors in 8 games
8 HRs in 8 games
8 SBs in 8 games
53 IU batter strikeouts in 8 games
