Should we read into Earley not being listed as a catcher?
ReplyDeleteMaybe infielder includes catcher? Or, maybe the job is Lyons and Earley will compete at 3B and/or DH.
ReplyDeleteWho steps up to the 3rd starter spot? I'm going to go with Igel who I think has the mentality needed to be a solid Sunday guy. I like his stuff too, but I like his attitude on the mound even better. Other guesses are freshman Hoffman and McKinley, sophomores Hoff and Leininger, and my darkhorse Stadler. I'm really hoping Carr ends up recovering quickly and takes the spot late in the season though however unlikely that might be.
ReplyDeleteDo any freshman start this year? Micah Johnson is my only guess
ReplyDeleteThe solid returning players are going to make it tough for any of the freshman to step into a starting role.
ReplyDeleteAnd I dont think Early not being listed as a catcher means anything. I'm sure they will try him out and see what happens. We will probably get a better idea at the Cream and Crimson scrimmages. Does anyone know when they are?
Homecoming weekend?
ReplyDeleteBaseball America said IU had best recruiting class in Big Ten last year. Where do you think this year's class will be ranked in the Big Ten?
ReplyDeleteAnd I also think there is a scrimmage on homecoming weekend.
I dont think this years class is nearly as ready to play right away as last years. Last year we saw Dickerson step right into the #4 hole, Dunning field SS, Monar in a weekend starter spot and Gonzalez play 3B during the last 75% of games. Plus dont forget that Webber may have been the 2B if he didnt get hurt. This years class is not nearly as ready NOW to play. But given the number of recruits in the class that seem to have high upside they could still be very good with a year or two under there belt.
