The team battled back to put up 6 runs in the top of the 9th, but the 12-run deficit entering the final inning ultimately proved too much to overcome as the Hoosiers dropped their season opener 16-10 Friday at the University of San Diego.

Hopefully IU will fare better in games 2 and 3 tomorrow. First pitch is slated for 1pm ET with the next game to follow after that at approximately 5pm ET. Go Hoosiers!

Need better pitching and more production out of the lineup besides the 2-5 and 9 spots! And, we can't afford to strike out so much this year. It is a waste of AB and we lost 10 of them yesterday.
ReplyDeleteAn out is an out, strikeout, flyout, groundout. we need OB percentage who cares about strikeouts.
ReplyDeleteI disagree. When you put the ball in play you make the defense make a play, and there is always a chance for an error when that happens. If there are runners on base, you can potentially advance them with flyouts and groundouts. A strikeout on the other hand is definitely a wasted at-bat that accomplishes nothing.

ReplyDeleteTrue. But those hitters are our better hitters period. They will contribute. And the others are not as strong as hitters who put ball in play but will struggle to hit 200 in this league
ReplyDeleteWell, whether it's those hitters or these hitters...you want to strike out as few times as possible.
