Hoosiers Wrap Up Series with 7-5 Victory

Behind 6 strong innings on the mound from freshman Walker Stadler and homeruns from Jerrud Sabourin and Alex Dickerson, the Hoosiers salvaged the trip to San Diego with a 7-5 victory in the series finale Sunday afternoon. Stadler gave up 3 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5 to pick up his first career win and lift IU to its first victory of the season. Chris Squires pitched the final two innings to pick up the save. At the plate, Sabourin, Dickerson and Sterling Mack each had a pair of hits, and that trio plus Josh Lyon and Jerry Kleman all drove in runs.

Here's the box score and the recap from IUHoosiers.com.

It was great to see the guys get a much needed win today. Hopefully they can build off the victory and make some noise in next weekend's Big Ten/Big East Challenge down in Florida. Go Hoosiers!

  1. (left to right) Dickerson, Lambert, Mack. Johnson, E Wilson, Rogers, Sabourin, Lyon, & Earley/Knipp at DH is the best lineup to beat Purdue this year. 1-3 at san diego not bad vs the competition.

  2. I would like a johnson at 2b, wilson at ss, and swift at 3b lineup. and, please don't put knipp as dh and dickerson in of and say that is a team move. nothing personal, but play the best fielders in the field.

  3. Johnson at 2nd and swift at 3rd base will not win us another championship in this league. Rogers did at 2nd base and Ethan is sure to do fine replacing Dunning (possibly even better at ss). They are proven players, and Johnson fits well at 3rdbase. Thats a solid infield mixed with Sabourin. GO HOOSIERS!

  4. why not swift at 3b? he is not going to catch over lyon and johnson made 3 errors there. I think he is more suited at 2b bc no one else that played there could hit unless rogers gets back in there.

  5. or early at 3b. i just think it we could move johnson over and get another hitter in the lineup, it would help. But maybe the frosh will prove me wrong.
