Update on First Three Games

The Hoosiers went 1-2 in the first three games of their Florida spring break trip. They opened with a 19-7 loss to Miami (Ohio) University, and followed that up with a 9-0 win over Central Michigan and a 10-6 loss to Yale. The victory over Central Michigan featured a complete game shutout by sophomore left-hander Drew Leininger, the first by an IU pitcher since 2006. Below is a rundown of the good hitting and pitching performances from IU's players thus far on the trip.

Good Hitting Performances:
Micah Johnson - 5 for 15, 2 HRs
Alex Dickerson - 4 for 10, 3 HRs
Josh Lyon - 4 for 9
Michael Basil - 3 for 8
Ethan Wilson - 3 for 7, 1 HR
Michael Earley - 2 for 6
Dylan Swift - 2 for 6
Blake Monar - 0 for 1, 2 walks

Good Pitching Performances:
Drew Leininger - 9 IP, 8 hits, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 Ks
Jerry Kleman - 1.1 IP, 0 hits, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
Matt Igel - 4.2 IP, 5 hits, 3 ER, 3 BBs, 5 Ks
Dylan Swift - 2 IP, 1 hit, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K

The Hoosiers will be back on the field this afternoon with a game against Bradley. Hopefully they can put together a good all-around performance and even their record for the week.

Go Hoosiers!

  1. Give Monar and E Wilson more at bats. A .667 OB% from Monar and a .429 BA from Wilson.

  2. Give Monar and E Wilson more at bats. A .667 OB% from Monar and a .429 BA from Wilson.

    Monar & Wilson

All kidding aside - they did get some more AB's and Wilson certainly delivered!

    Go Hooisers

  3. Wilson didn't get an at bat after I wrote that. Lets be honest the team is hitting .283. We could use trying others.

  4. You are right! My mistake...

However, He has made good use of the AB's he has gotten.

Maybe coach Smith will stop allowing him to give us 5+ great relief innings and instead grant him 2 more AB's...

    Who should he replace?

  5. I like a Wilson/Rogers middle infield.

  6. Can Ethan play SS? I like Basil/Rogers and keep Ethan working hard on the mound.
