Hoosiers Drop High-Scoring Game 1 to Wolverines

Final score was 16-10 in this extra-innings affair. For the second game in a row the Hoosiers blew a late-inning lead (9-8) as they allowed Michigan to push 2 runs across in the top half of the 8th to take a 10-9 lead. Fortunately IU was able to bounce back with a run of its own in the bottom half of the 8th to send the game into extra frames after a scoreless 9th. The Wolverines were too strong late, though, as they scored 6 in the top of the 10th, and the Hoosiers were unable to respond in their final at-bat of the day.

A wild one it was indeed. I never imagined that yesterday's game would involve 26 runs. Another tough loss for the Hoosiers, though, as this was one that definitely got away.

The team will be back at it again today with the first pitch slated for 1pm ET. Hopefully they can bounce back with a winning effort this afternoon.

Go Hoosiers!

  1. Any word on when Carr will be back? He could be huge for this years team.

  2. I'm excited for a potential Leienger/Carr/Monar rotation before the conference season ends!

  3. No official word on Carr yet. I know he's begun throwing again and that he is supposed to return before season's end, but exactly when I am not sure.
